Get to know Douglas Nielsen

Tell us about yourself:

I have worked at United Community Bank for 7 years. Before that I was a UND grad who was born & raised on a farm in North Dakota before moving to Perham 7 years ago. I love living in Perham with my wife & our 2 kids who keep me quite busy when I’m not at work. Additionally, I am a volunteer firefighter with the Perham Fire Department which is the best part-time job/hobby you could ask for.

In what ways are you helping our local agriculture industry and local farmers?

Having grown up on a farm, I believe it is critical for farming operations to have a solid relationship with their lender. I believe my role in that relationship is to provide financial insight to operations that they may not otherwise get from other sources. To do that, I am constantly searching for industry knowledge that I can use to benefit farming operations.
