Gardening Tips!

Gardening season will soon be here! The spring snowfalls are slowing down the process a bit so don’t be in a rush to get those plants in just yet!
Here is a handy guide to use to determine when plants can be planted based on soil temperature:
60 degrees: Tomatoes, corn, cabbage, turnip, spinach, radishes, lettuce, beets
65 degrees: Cucumbers, peppers, most flowers
70 degrees and up: Squash, beans, melons, pumpkins
The best way to check the soil temperature is use a soil thermometer. Just stick the thermometer into the ground a few inches and let it sit for 10 minutes. Once you have a reading you’ll know how warm your ground is!
