With everything that is happening, our homes are turning into our offices. More people are learning how to work from home! For many of us, this is the first time we won’t be allowed to come into our place of business. While we try and acclimate to this new normal one thing we find difficult is creating a routine with all the upheaval that has occurred. Working from home is just another obstacle that can be mastered.

Here are a few tips that can make working from home easier.

Maintain Regular Hours:

One benefit people see when they work from home is greater flexibility. They can be productive earlier in the day and later in the evening. That being said, maintaining a semblance of balance and order while still being productive needs to be first and foremost. Find the right hours and stick to it! Create a schedule and follow it as best as you can! Working from home does not mean working 24 hours a day!

Set Ground Rules:

Most people are seeing huge changes to there lives. Parents trying to work, teach, and parent is to much and will lead to stress. Do your best to get the kids on a school schedule and yourself on a work schedule and maintain those office hours so you can be as productive as you can while still doing the enormous work of parenting!

Continue to socialize:

Working from home can be difficult because we miss seeing our work friends. Don’t forget about them! Everyone is in the same boat. Set up meetings, use different channels to keep in contact with everyone you normally see on a day to day basis! Just because we have to work remotely doesn’t mean we have to be strangers!

Stay Positive:

These are strange times and nobody has seen anything like this in their lifetime. Just know that everything will pass and we all need to maintain a healthy outlook on life. Spending time outdoors, reading a book, and listening to music are all ways to alleviate stress and to refocus. Keep active during your time at home, follow your schedule and keep smiling! We are all in this together!

These are just a few tips to help you get through these next few weeks. One thing that shouldn’t cause stress is your bank.  At UCB we have set up Digital Banking and telephone banking so there is no need to rush to the bank! Stay home and continue practicing safe social practices. If you need to come out, our drive throughs will be open in Perham, Frazee, and Dent.

Also, if you are having financial difficulties during these times do not hesitate to reach out. Programs are available and we would love to help in anyway we can.  Neighbors helping neighbors, that’s what we do at UCB, we’ve been doing that since 1911.
