Website Access Update

MAY 4, 2017

Due to a scheduled security update on June 6, 2017, all users visiting the United Community Bank website need to be running the latest version of their internet browser to continue access.

This update will deactivate TLS (Transport Layer Security) 1.0, a change required by our website host. The primary function of the TLS protocol is to provide privacy and data integrity between two communicating applications. Websites use TLS to secure all communications between their servers and web browsers. TLS 1.0 is an outdated protocol which is currently being phased out across the industry due to security vulnerabilities. All modern operating systems and browsers currently allow for TLS 1.1 and 1.2. For the small percentage of individuals that are utilizing outdated operating system/browser combinations requiring TLS 1.0, access to this website will be denied.

For a full list of TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 compatibility, you can view the matrix located at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transport_Layer_Security#Web_browsers.
